Early on in the pandemic, a multitude of “leaked” videos out of China portrayed an apocalyptic scenario where people were dropping dead in the street or having demonic fits over this mysterious virus; bodies in bags, officials responding with hazmat suits and guns — none of which manifested once the disease spread outside of China.
Few seem to acknowledge or remember this circus, as the reality in the rest of the World mirrored that of a seasonal flu whose existence was propped up in people’s minds only by the endless recitation of case numbers from media and officials.
Of course, it wasn’t long before business had returned back to normal in China, with massive holiday celebrations taking place; the Western World remains in lockdown to this day.
